A TIMELESS CLASSIC : Little Black Dress!!

WHERE IT ALL BEGIN!!!!

April 1926
Before the 1920s, wearing black was reserved only for mourning. At the time, women’s fashion was all about tight corsets and huge gowns. But it took a turn when Coco Chanel printed a simple black dress on the cover of Vogue magazine in 1926. It was Chanel’s genius idea to offer a design that was affordable and boasting that those who were not wealthy could: “walk around like millionaires.”  It remained popular during the 1930s Great Depression because of its simplicity and flexibility – it hugged the contours of the body like a canvas that could easily be accessorized.

Marilyn Monroe’s chic figure-hugging black sheath dress proves that less is always more.
June 1961
The little black dress gained more popularity when actress Audrey Hepburn wore the LBD designed by Givenchy with pearls in the movie “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”.
June 1994
Princess Diana’s off the shoulder, form fitting silk little black dress has been labeled “the revenge dress” as she wore it the same night Prince Charles aired his tell-all documentary about the couple’s marriage and subsequent divorce. Although Diana didn’t make a statement that night, her LBD spoke volumes.
May 2007
Angelina Jolie looked demure in a black lace dress at the Cannes Film Festival with Brad Pitt.

The little black dress’s versatility ensured its immortality. It’s the ideal mix of elements. It’s easy, versatile, and practical!
NIIRA offers a variety of black dresses, which can be styled up or down!
